Building a 24-hour a day House of Prayer in the Spirit of the Tabernacle David

Perpetual worship and intercession are at the heart of all we do in the International House of Prayer in El Paso TX, which embraces 24/7 worship and prayer, intimacy with God, preparing for the end times and doing acts of justice as the foundation of the ministry we are engaged in.

We believe that the vast majority of the major cities of the earth will have a city wide House of Prayer in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David.

When we are in the Prayer Room, we use basically 2 formats:

Devotional: This format consists of a worship leader or team ministering to the Lord through music and song for 2 hours, providing an anointed atmosphere for individuals to meet with God. This is not a corporate time so much as a time for individuals to sit before the Lord and encounter Him in His Word. 

Intercession: The goal of this format is for those who are in the prayer room to corporately intercede in unity for a specific goal. During the 2 hour shift, the worship never ceases and the prayer is mixed with the worship. A prayer leader provides direction for the prayer and prays directly from the scriptures. The singers sing spontaneous short songs in response to this foundational biblical prayer. Often a chorus is developed which is sung over and over. 

We call this methodology “Harp and Bowl” because of the mixing of worship and prayer as seen in Revelation 5:8: “….the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense which are the prayers of the saints.

Why a House of Prayer in the model of the Tabernacle of David

The local churches minister to people.

The House of Prayer ministers to God, exalts the beauty of Jesus

Basically it is the simple model that David used when he launched a national movement of singing and instrumentation that helped thrust Israel into her divine destiny:

• Praise and worship 24 hours a day, 7 days a week… the music never stops
• Totally dedicated to minister unto the Lord (according to 1 Chronicles 15-17), “to make petition, to give thanks and to praise the Lord day and night”
• The tabernacle of David will be restored (see Amos 9:11). It has been adopted in numerous Houses of Prayer throughout the nations.

What is the Tabernacle of David?

• David appointed the worship in the Tabernacle by placing 288 Prophetic singers and 4000 musicians. He paid them to gaze day and night upon God as they sang the prayers of Zion.
• These signers and musicians were employed in the Tabernacle of David, which combined unceasing worship with intercession as it continued 24/7. This was their primary occupation in life.

How fervent Prayer and Intercession will be kept 24/7?

• Through “watches” of two hours each.
• Churches or individuals who commit to schedule and lead the Worship/Intercession set for a 2-hour watch.
• Training in different prayer models will be available.
